Around six in 10 people in Ireland report using artificial intelligence (AI) platforms for mental health support, according to a new survey reported by Irish media. The findings indicate that many users view AI as a source of help, while a substantial minority report negative outcomes after using it.

The Irish Independent reports that nearly 40% of respondents felt uneasy or concerned after using AI for mental health advice. RTE similarly reports that about a third of users say the advice leads to harmful behaviour. Together, the results suggest that alongside adoption, concerns about safety and impact are widespread among those who have tried these tools, though the degree of harm described differs by outlet.

Both sources present the same broad pattern: high usage for mental health advice, and significant follow-up concerns among users. The reports do not indicate whether the survey confirms that harm is caused by AI itself or reflects users’ perceptions after using the platforms.
