West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari says the state will implement the National Health Mission following Centre funding for healthcare revamp. Adhikari states the Centre has sanctioned about ₹3,000 crore for the programme, with roughly ₹527 crore already released to the state. Alongside this, he announces that Ayushman Bharat card rollout will begin in July. The CM also says more than 1.36 crore families in West Bengal will be covered under Ayushman Bharat.
Adhikari further indicates administrative steps to strengthen healthcare delivery, including setting up control rooms to monitor and oversee district hospitals. According to The Hindu, the state is planning to sign an agreement with the Centre in Delhi to include West Bengal in the Ayushman Arogya Mandir network, with the aim of extending Ayushman Bharat benefits to migrant residents.
The reports broadly agree on the funding announcement, the July start for Ayushman Bharat cards, and measures for better oversight of district-level hospitals.
