A juvenile female Philippine eagle dies after its remains are found near an electrical post in Sitio Panghaon, Barangay Guinalaban, Salay, Misamis Oriental, on Wednesday morning. Local reports say the eagle shows burn-like marks consistent with electrocution, and it is believed to have been electrocuted.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Northern Mindanao, through its Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) in Gingoog City, is investigating the incident. According to DENR communications referenced by outlets, barangay officials report the case to CENRO after a farmer discovers the eagle at around 9 a.m.

While all accounts focus on the same location, species, and the suspected cause, they differ mainly in wording and emphasis. Two Inquirer.net pieces describe the death as electrocution and note the burn-like marks found on the bird, while GMA News summarizes that authorities probe the death after the remains are discovered near the electrical post.
