The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) warns Nigerians about a fraudulent website falsely claiming that online voter registration is currently ongoing. INEC says the fake portal is not connected to the commission and urges people not to engage with it or share personal information.
According to the outlets, INEC identifies the scam site as pvc-inecnigeria-org.blogspot.com and says it promotes a “Final Phase of Nationwide Online Voter Card Registration.” The site falsely states that a new registration window runs from September 28 to October 27, 2026, and advertises services such as updating voter records, transferring to another polling unit, and replacing lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards, often claiming these are free.
INEC says the actual voter registration exercise ended on July 26, 2026, making any claims of a new nationwide online process inaccurate. The commission advises the public to ignore the portal, not click links, and rely only on INEC’s official communication channels to confirm electoral information.
