African Action Congress presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore says Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) prays for him during a private meeting following a church event. Sowore says the interaction takes place after a thanksgiving service and after a meeting with RCCG’s General Overseer.
According to Sowore, Adeboye tells him he follows his activities and expresses confidence that Sowore’s “path is honorable.” He also says Adeboye expresses belief that he will experience “triumph,” alongside the prayer. The outlets report the same core account, with slight wording differences about whether Adeboye “offered to pray” for him or “prayed for” him, and whether the event is described as a service or a thanksgiving service.
The reports focus on Sowore’s account of the meeting; none of the excerpts provide direct confirmation or additional comments from RCCG or Adeboye. The story is presented primarily as a statement by Sowore after his visit to RCCG.
