The board of Tata Sons is set to meet on Tuesday to discuss the performance of the Tata group’s loss-making companies, according to sources. The discussions are expected to include business updates and forward plans from individual Tata group companies, particularly those currently incurring losses. Sources also indicate that the board meeting is unlikely to include discussion of Tata Sons chairman N. Chandrasekaran’s reappointment, even as tensions within the group remain in focus.

Chandrasekaran and Tata Trusts chairman Noel Tata, who serves as a nominee director on the Tata Sons board, are understood to have met over the weekend to review the companies’ performance. Reports cited by outlets say Tata group unlisted businesses recorded losses of Rs 10,905 crore in FY25, with some estimates placing the figure at Rs 29,000 crore going forward.

The sources further state that recent top-level frictions have included actions involving group members and delays around Chandrasekaran’s continuation as chairman. Separately, a proxy advisory firm, InGovern, has argued that Tata Sons should be listed to strengthen transparency and governance.
