Anthropic introduces in-country inference for its Claude models in India, using Amazon Bedrock. With the India endpoint, prompts sent by customers and the resulting model responses are processed on servers located in India rather than being routed overseas. Anthropic says the change is meant to help organizations meet data-residency needs while still using Claude.

The reports frame the update as a response to demands from regulated industries. Anthropic’s India managing director Irina Ghose is quoted describing requests from sectors such as finance and government, where regulatory and data-handling rules can restrict how sensitive information is processed. Outlets also note that India is Anthropic’s second-largest market for Claude.ai, with software development representing a large share of user demand.

Multiple sources add that the offering is now available for specific models—Claude Opus 5, Sonnet 5, and Haiku 4.5—through Amazon Bedrock in India. Several companies, including TCS, Infosys, Cognizant, and LTTS, are described as integrating Claude at scale, with use cases expanding beyond software development into areas such as banking, healthcare, and public services. The accounts differ mainly in the emphasis on compliance versus adoption details, but broadly agree on the core technical and regulatory purpose.
