Boston Dynamics appoints Rohit Prasad, a former Amazon executive and AI leader, as its new chief executive officer. Multiple outlets report that he is brought in to help guide the Hyundai Motor Co.-controlled company into its next phase of robot innovation and commercialization.
Sources describe Prasad’s background as spanning 12 years at Amazon, where he helped build and scale Alexa and later led work connected to foundation models, including the Amazon Nova family. Korea Times adds that Prasad joins the company on Wednesday and has served as senior vice president and head scientist for Alexa and artificial general intelligence. Earlier, he is described as having worked on machine-learning research at Raytheon BBN Technologies for roughly 14 years.
While outlets broadly agree on the appointment and Prasad’s experience, their emphasis differs. Financial Post and Bloomberg focus on Physical AI and the commercialization push for robotics, while Bloomberg also highlights the company’s next era under Hyundai’s control. Other reports primarily reiterate his roles at Amazon and his machine-learning research experience.
