India head coach Gautam Gambhir posts a tribute to outgoing BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar, saying “History will be kinder to you.” The message, shared on social media, follows Agarkar’s exit from the role of chairman of the BCCI senior men’s selection committee.
Across outlets, Gambhir is described as expressing gratitude for Agarkar’s contribution and praising his approach of putting “team first” over individual considerations. The tribute highlights the period of success during Agarkar’s tenure, when India win three ICC trophies. Reports also note that during Agarkar’s term, India reach major ICC events, including the 2023 ODI World Cup final.
With Agarkar stepping down, the BCCI names Pragyan Ojha as interim chairman of selectors and invites applications for a permanent replacement. Times of India adds that VVS Laxman will be present at future selection meetings as part of efforts to improve coordination with the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence.
