Activists and public figures in Bengaluru are set to hold a “people’s tribunal” at Freedom Park to address alleged harms from the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The event, organised by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), is scheduled for October 8 and is aimed at providing a platform for voters who say they were wrongly removed from the rolls. Actor-activist Prakash Raj and YouTuber Dhruv Rathee are among those expected to join the tribunal, along with CJP leaders and other civil society participants.

Across outlets, the core demand is that the SIR process has disproportionately affected affected citizens and raises concerns about democracy. Organisers describe participants as “victims of SIR” and plan to feature testimonies and interactions with affected voters. Some reports add that a separate “chappal protest” is planned after the tribunal, linked to solidarity with women journalists who alleged sexual harassment by Delhi Police personnel during earlier protests; police say the matter is being reviewed. Opposition groups have criticised the Election Commission’s handling of the revision, while election authorities reject claims of deliberate or wrongful deletion. CJP leaders also cite wider figures released by critics and have raised demands including resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner, potentially alongside plans to protest in Delhi on October 10.
