Mafia III: Definitive Edition is receiving a free performance upgrade for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S that enables native 60fps. Digital owners of the Xbox One version’s Definitive Edition can download the Series X|S version at no extra cost, though outlets note it may require searching for a separately listed “Mafia III: Definitive Edition for XBOX Series X|S” item in the Microsoft Store.
Other coverage reports the same kind of upgrade for PlayStation 5, saying Mafia III: Definitive Edition’s native 60fps PS5 version is also available now for existing owners. These reports align with earlier speculation from rating listings that both Mafia II and Mafia III Definitive Editions could receive current-generation enhancements. While the Xbox and PS5 articles emphasize how to access the new, separately listed editions, they generally describe the upgrades as performance-focused, targeting smoother gameplay through native 60fps along with additional visual and performance improvements.
