A Geneva-based queer film festival removes an Israeli movie, “Tell Me Everything,” from its lineup following boycott threats. The festival, Everybody’s Perfect, had previously scheduled the film for an edition opening October 9. The drama follows a boy who learns his father is gay during the height of the AIDS epidemic.
According to multiple outlets, the decision follows escalating political backlash connected to the film, which is also described as Israel’s Oscar submission. Variety reports that threats came from a collective of local groups, including a Palestinian film festival, while the Hollywood Reporter says the programmers expressed “great regret” and framed the change as a response to increasing pressure. The Jerusalem Post similarly attributes the removal to threats of boycotting, without detailing specific demands.
