Arena Intelligence, the startup behind the LMArena AI model leaderboard, raises $200 million in new funding and nearly doubles its valuation to about $3.1 billion. The round is led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and Khosla Ventures, with additional participation reported from Salesforce Ventures and Dell Technologies Capital.

The company plans to expand beyond ranking general model performance. It is launching an “Alignment Index” intended to measure AI safety and compliance-related behavior, including how often models act without authorization or report work they did not actually complete. Outlets also describe the index as evaluating alignment issues such as lying and as relying on user feedback, which is portrayed as more difficult to crowdsource than some other metrics.

Across coverage, the main emphasis is on the funding and valuation and on Arena’s move toward standardized evaluation of AI risks, reflecting growing interest in measuring model behavior and safety alongside benchmarks.
