Apple has reached an agreement involving the AI audio startup Huxe, according to filings reported by multiple outlets. Rather than a full purchase, the deal includes the option for Apple to make employment offers to certain Huxe staff and a non-exclusive license to the company’s intellectual property.

The European Union’s Digital Markets Act transparency materials cited in the coverage identify Huxe as an acqui-hire and note it is at least the fourth AI-related deal Apple discloses this year. MacRumors adds details from an European Commission filing, saying Apple is notified and can recruit specific employees but that the filing does not specify which people or whether any hiring has occurred.

Huxe’s technology focuses on generating podcast-style audio from prompts and personalized briefings using information such as users’ emails, calendars, and interests. The startup was founded by former Google NotebookLM (now Gemini Notebook) team members. Apple’s agreement comes after Huxe said in May that it was winding down and ending its audio service on May 28, with development stopping. Outlets differ mainly on emphasis—some describe it as an acqui-hire and others as a hiring-and-licensing arrangement—but all report the core structure of the deal.
