Two men charged in London with carrying out hostile surveillance on behalf of Iran plead not guilty at the Old Bailey. Nematollah Shahsavani, 41, a dual Iranian-British national, and Alireza Farasati, 22, an Iranian national, deny the single offence they face.
Prosecutors allege the surveillance targeted a range of Israeli and Jewish-linked sites in London. Reported targets include the Israeli embassy and consulate, Britain’s oldest synagogue, and additional sites described as of interest to Iran, including a woman and a college. One outlet reports the alleged reconnaissance took place during July and August 2025.
Bloomberg also reports that the case includes alleged targeting of members of the Jewish community. Across outlets, the central point is the same: the defendants appear in court and deny the charges, while the alleged scope of targets is framed slightly differently depending on each outlet’s emphasis.
