A newlywed couple, Shyam Hari Patil and his wife Sapna Patil, is found dead in Maharashtra’s Dhule district in the Tapi River. Multiple outlets report that their legs are chained together with an iron chain secured by a padlock, and the bodies are recovered near the river area around Nardana/Savalde in surrounding talukas. Police send the bodies for post-mortem examinations at a government or rural hospital in the region.
Authorities say the circumstances are unclear, with investigations considering whether the deaths were a suicide or involved foul play. Local reporting notes a possible sequence of events involving a motorcycle seen near the river and Shyam contacting a relative shortly before the incident, saying “everything was over.” The couple had reportedly married a few months earlier and had been living in Utran/Erandol, after moving from Padalsare/Amalner taluka. Police are conducting further inquiries and have registered a case at the relevant police station.
