APM presidential candidate Seyi Makinde says that if elected president in 2027, he will serve only one four-year term. Speaking during an APM town hall meeting in Yola, Adamawa, he said his administration would be a transitional Government of National Unity and would focus on tackling insecurity, poverty and electricity shortages. He also said the government would be all-inclusive, with policies aimed at listening to citizens and addressing challenges without politicising their welfare.
Makinde framed the one-term pledge as a way to address concerns about rotation of power between the south and the north. He criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration, accusing it of failing to deliver campaign promises, particularly on electricity. The outlets also report that Makinde urged Nigerians to vote out the administration in 2027, describing the election as an opportunity for a “reset agenda” and greater honesty in governance.
In addition, Makinde challenged the federal government to publish its petroleum pricing template, saying Nigerians should be able to understand how petroleum product prices are determined. He cited policies including compressed natural gas, electric vehicles and the naira-for-crude initiative as failures, and he called Tinubu to respond to fuel-price concerns.
