Israel’s President Isaac Herzog writes to flydubai captain Smit Machchhar to express gratitude for his heroism and to invite him to Jerusalem once he has recovered. Herzog says he looks forward to welcoming Machchhar in person and conveying “appreciation and love” to him, wishing him a full recovery.
Both outlets report that Machchhar is still recovering from injuries and remains in a hospital in Dubai. Herzog’s message also frames Machchhar as a “hero” beyond Israel, describing his actions as meaningful for India and for people more broadly. The two sources differ mainly in emphasis—one highlights appreciation from Israel as a grateful nation, while the other underscores his status as a “hero to all of humanity.”
