More than 170 green sea turtle hatchlings are released into the sea in Baler, Aurora, as part of government conservation efforts, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Central Luzon says. The hatchlings come from separate nests within the Aurora Watershed Forest Reserve and are released along the coast.
Outlets report the hatchlings are released in Barangay Zabali, specifically along the coasts of Sitios Diguisit and Dicasalarin. The DENR and the Baler municipal environment office carry out the activity with local beach resort operators, according to DENR Central Luzon and a community environment and natural resources office head cited by one outlet. The reports present the event as an ecological intervention intended to help increase the survival chances of hatchlings after collection from nesting sites for release.
