Nigerian Army troops, working with other security agencies, rescue a kidnapped man and neutralise three suspected kidnappers during an operation in Edo State. The incident takes place in Sasaro Forest, Akoko-Edo Local Government Area. The victim is identified as Prince Micheal (also reported as Michael) Akao.

According to security sources cited by multiple outlets, the operation follows a tip-off and is carried out by soldiers of the 195 Battalion (Reconnaissance), with the timing described as around 2 a.m. in one report. During the encounter, troops recover three locally made firearms and nine cartridges, along with other items. The rescued man is taken to hospital for medical care and is reported to be responding to treatment.

Across the reports, the handling of evidence and the dead suspects is described as coordinated with Nigeria’s security institutions: recovered weapons and items are handed over to the Department of State Services, while the bodies of the three suspects are transferred to the Nigeria Police Force. The raid is described as part of ongoing efforts by the Army’s 2 Division to tackle kidnapping and related crimes in its area of responsibility.
