Sui Foundation commits $30 million to DATA Network as DATA’s blockchain-based system winds down and its infrastructure moves to Sui. Multiple outlets report that DATA is upgrading to operate natively as a protocol on Sui, rather than relying on its own standalone chain.

The migration includes integrating DATA’s Trace registry into Sui. Storage for applications associated with the DATA Foundation is expected to shift to Walrus, which is set to become the default storage system. While outlets agree on the partnership and the $30 million investment, they differ mainly in emphasis—some frame it as an AI data protocol migration, others as a move to retire DATA’s independent network.

Sources also note that key details are not yet fully disclosed publicly, including the migration schedule or the full financial terms of the $30 million commitment. Sui Foundation and DATA Network have not announced a clear timeline for when the standalone blockchain will be retired after migration.
