Yuji Horii, creator of the Dragon Quest series, releases a new online game titled “Interrogation Room Komiya,” which he says was generated using AI in about 30 minutes. Outlets report the game is a text-based interrogation experience where players choose prompts that escalate pressure during an investigation, and it is available to play for free online.

Several reports say Horii shared details of the prototype on X, describing how he previously handled story, artwork, programming, and game creation himself, but now can produce a “decent game” by giving instructions to AI, even though he cannot draw or code. Kotaku and other outlets frame the release as a demonstration of Horii’s longstanding interest in generative AI and his belief it can reduce development time.

Some coverage also places the moment in a broader context: earlier this year, Square Enix and Google reportedly agreed to bring an AI chatbot companion to Dragon Quest X for Japanese players, though that project is separate from Horii’s newly released prototype.
