A Federal High Court in Abuja strikes out an eight-count criminal forgery charge against Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, alleged to be a self-styled Director-General of the “non-existent” Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC). The court action ends the trial before a new case is pursued, according to multiple reports.

The Federal Government moves for the termination of the charges after reviewing the case file and identifying “loopholes” in how the matter was brought. Prosecutors say some documents allegedly forged by Adeyemi should be handled in the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory rather than the Federal High Court. They also state a fresh charge has been filed and that Adeyemi will be arraigned again in the appropriate court.

All three outlets report that Justice Mohammed Garba Umar presides over the Abuja proceedings and that the defence does not object to the termination. They also note Adeyemi is being tried alongside two other alleged co-accused whose whereabouts are not known.
