Police in Cambridgeshire arrest a woman after a newborn baby girl dies following a report of concern at a home in Cambourne.
Emergency services are called to the address in Oxford Way at about 7.40am on Saturday. The baby is taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, where she is pronounced dead on arrival. The woman is also taken to the same hospital and remains there. A Cambridgeshire Police spokesperson says officers treat the death as suspicious and the woman has been arrested in connection.
Detective Inspector Andy Moralee describes it as a tragic incident and says the circumstances are under investigation. Other outlets report the same core timeline—an early-morning call at the Cambourne property, the baby’s death after hospital admission, and the woman’s arrest—without adding further allegations or conclusions.
