The Maharashtra Charity Commissioner has granted Sir Dorabji Tata Trust (SDTT) an additional week to respond to complaints from Tata Trusts vice-chairmen Venu Srinivasan and Vijay Singh, according to multiple outlets. The deadline is reported as October 19. The complaints allege governance lapses and raise questions about whether SDTT has overstepped its role as a charitable trust in matters involving Tata Sons.
Earlier, hearings on similar issues had faced repeated adjournments, including delays tied to presiding officer absence and time sought by parties. In related developments, SDTT’s involvement in Tata Sons reorganisation and trustee administration have been under scrutiny. Separate reporting also notes that Sir Ratan Tata Trust (SRTT) faced restrictions earlier after regulatory concerns.
Former Tata Trusts trustee Mehli Mistry is also reportedly considering approaching the Bombay High Court if scheduled hearings are postponed again and may seek interim orders to maintain the status quo on trustee appointments. If proceedings continue without resolution, legal action in the high court remains an option.
