Vice-President Kashim Shettima meets several former governors at Nigeria’s Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja, according to multiple reports. The visitors include former Kogi State governor Yahaya Bello and former Jigawa State governor Abubakar Badaru, alongside other political figures such as former Plateau State governor Simon Lalong.
The outlets report that the delegation, identified as leaders of the National Directorate of Arewa for Asiwaju Movement, arrives at about 4 pm on October 12, 2026, and is taken to Shettima’s wing. Coverage says Shettima is in another meeting earlier that day, and that some officials are also present during that prior meeting.
While the reports agree on the meeting and the people involved, they differ mainly on emphasis. Legit.ng and other outlets link the timing to preparations for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign activities, including a campaign council launch planned for October 14 and the party’s flag-off in Kaduna on October 24. Other reporting describes the purpose as not officially stated, with some sources characterising it as a courtesy call.
