A new Gallup poll finds Democrats ahead of Republicans on both party favorability and perceptions of who can better handle the economy as the November midterm elections approach. Results released this week show 43% of respondents view the Democratic Party more favorably than the Republican Party, compared with 35% who favor the GOP.

Gallup also reports that Americans rate Democrats more positively on economic stewardship. More than half of respondents say Democrats would do a better job keeping the United States prosperous, while 37% say Republicans would be better.

Taken together, the outlets cite the same Gallup survey to indicate a consistent lead for Democrats across favorability and economic trust. The coverage focuses on how voters are assessing the parties in the final weeks before voters cast ballots in the midterm elections.
