Stanley Cup-winning coach Bruce Cassidy is not currently behind an NHL bench and says his next opportunity depends on how his contract with the Vegas Golden Knights is handled. Multiple outlets report that he is staying engaged with hockey while he awaits another chance in the league.
The reports agree Cassidy is still under contract with the Golden Knights, and that the team controls whether he can pursue interviews for other NHL coaching jobs. NDTV and The Athletic specifically note that Cassidy cannot freely interview or seek roles without the Knights granting permission. Cassidy has adjusted how he discusses his NHL future, emphasizing that “nothing’s changed” and that authorization is required.
While waiting, Cassidy continues coaching work outside the NHL. Yahoo Sports reports he is at Canada’s women’s national team selection camp in Quebec City, supporting Hockey Canada ahead of November’s IIHF Women’s World Championship in Denmark. The Athletic and Yahoo also link his current role to his recent appointment as special adviser to Team Canada general manager Danièle Sauvageau.
