Hulu officially moves Ryan Coogler’s reboot of The X-Files forward, ordering the project to series. Multiple outlets report that the series is a reimagining of Chris Carter’s 1990s sci-fi drama and is set to develop as a Hulu original.
The reports describe the show as following two “highly decorated but vastly different” FBI agents who form an unlikely bond after being assigned to a long-shuttered division focused on unexplained cases. Casting is consistent across sources: Danielle Deadwyler and Himesh Patel are set to star. Deadline and other outlets also describe the production as coming from Onyx Collective and 20th Television.
On the creative side, Consequence adds additional detail about the pilot, reporting that composer Ludwig Göransson—an Oscar winner—created the pilot’s score. Outlet coverage otherwise aligns on the series order, the reboot’s placement at Hulu, and the core premise and leading cast.
