Ian Winship, 90, sets a “world best” 10K time for his age at the North Lanarkshire 10K, according to multiple Scottish and UK outlets. Reports say he is presented with a trophy following the achievement, and is widely described as an inspiration.
Outlets describe the performance as record-breaking and note that it takes place around mid-September, with at least one report specifying the Cumbernauld 10K on Sunday, September 13. While coverage varies slightly in emphasis—some foreground the honouring and trophy presentation, others focus on his plans—there is consistent agreement that Winship intends to try to improve further. One source quotes him saying he plans to beat the time next year and run faster.
