The Boxing Federation of India (BFI) president Ajay Singh suspends secretary general Pramod Kumar with immediate effect, citing allegations including financial irregularities, non-cooperation with an investigation and misuse of authority. The interim suspension is ordered pending an inquiry under the BFI constitution.
Singh’s order also refers to Kumar’s conduct, including claims that Kumar issued a broadcasting-related work order without required approval, failed to cooperate in an inquiry into the cancellation of a national championship, and attempted to convene an unauthorised meeting to move a no-confidence motion against the president. Kumar disputes the leadership’s position, and outlets report that Kumar recently wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi alleging “criminal intimidation” involving Singh and executive director Col. Arun Malik to derail the no-confidence motion; Malik denies the allegation.
Across reports, the dispute is framed as part of a deepening internal feud over governance and a proposed no-confidence motion, with the suspension serving as a key turning point as the inquiry process begins. One outlet also notes that a separate Rs 40 crore boxing partnership deal has come into focus amid the broader conflict.
