Apple has disclosed a flat-rate repair charge for its HomeView smart home hub. According to multiple outlets, Apple charges $279 to repair any damage to a HomeView when the device is not covered by AppleCare+.
The sources also agree that the fee is much lower with AppleCare+: one report states the repair cost is $39 with coverage. Outlets note that AppleCare+ for HomeView runs $2.49 per month (or $24.99 per year) in the U.S., and that Apple sells HomeView in two hardware versions—one wall-mounted and one tabletop—while indicating the same repair price applies regardless of which version is serviced. With the HomeView selling for $299, outlets highlight that the out-of-pocket repair cost without AppleCare+ is only about $20 less than replacing the unit.
