The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says it is continuing search and recovery at the Igbokoda crash site in Ondo State after its ATR 42-500 aircraft crashed during operations. Multiple outlets report that the service, with divers and support from the Nigerian Navy and the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), recovers additional aircraft components from the wreckage.

Outlets describe round-the-clock underwater recovery work supported by hydrographic surveys and satellite-based search-and-rescue imagery, along with mud excavation and water pumping to reach the wreck. Some reporting also notes efforts to locate critical evidence, including a black box, in swamp conditions with assistance from Navy sonar.

Separately, the NAF also establishes a 12-member aircraft accident investigation board to determine the circumstances and causes of the crash and recommend measures to prevent recurrence. Sources say the board’s work follows aviation investigation protocols, with evidence to be secured, documented and preserved, and includes both military and civilian aviation safety expertise. Reporting also reiterates that the crash killed all 25 people on board and that officials ask the public to avoid speculation while investigations continue.
