Qivalis, a euro-pegged stablecoin project, receives authorization from the Dutch central bank, De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB), to operate as an electronic money institution (EMI). The decision, announced Oct. 14, places the company under direct, ongoing supervision by DNB and satisfies a key regulatory step toward issuing euro-denominated electronic money tokens (EMTs).
Outlets report that the authorization positions Qivalis to launch a euro stablecoin in the coming months. Cointelegraph says issuance is planned subject to additional requirements under Europe’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework. CoinDesk adds that Qivalis is backed by major financial groups including BBVA, BNP Paribas, and ING, and that the approval supports plans to provide on-chain euro settlement infrastructure in a MiCA-compliant way. While the DNB license is presented as a major milestone, further compliance steps are still required before the token is launched.
