The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) plans a prominent presence at the Tokyo International Film Festival. Multiple outlets report that Academy CEO Bill Kramer, Academy President Lynette Howell Taylor, and other senior leadership will travel to Japan for festival-linked programming.

According to reports, the festival will include a special AMPAS segment titled “Academy in Tokyo,” described as an event for Academy members and executives. Deadline also says the program features a special talk session involving Kramer and Toho CEO Hiro Matsuoka, as part of the festival’s broader agenda. Variety adds that Kramer is also slated to receive a leadership award at the festival and to participate in an onstage conversation with Toho’s leadership.

Outlets agree the Tokyo International Film Festival’s current edition runs in late October into early November, with the AMPAS events scheduled around late October. The reporting collectively frames the visit as both a public leadership and dialogue component tied to Toho, and a separate internal Academy-focused engagement.
