Blizzard is letting players try World of Warcraft: Forever for free during a limited stress test scheduled for October 19. The company says the event starts at 2 p.m. PT / 5 p.m. ET and does not require a subscription, beta invite, or game time. Players need only a Battle.net account and the Battle.net launcher to download and run the test.

Sources agree the testing period is short and time-limited, with Blizzard stating it may end earlier or run longer “as needed,” but only for a few hours. During the stress test, the game’s closed beta is offline, and characters created during the test are deleted afterward. Blizzard is using the event to identify issues ahead of release.

Additional timing details also appear across coverage: the stress test runs before the beta window ends on October 21, and the full game launches on November 4. One outlet also notes the closed beta phase includes ongoing disputes within the community, but those controversies are not presented as part of the stress test instructions or eligibility rules.
