DVLA research shows that drivers in the UK accumulate a record number of penalty points on their licences, reaching 5.6 million last year. The figure is described as the equivalent of more than 15,000 penalty points each day. Compared with the previous year, the total rises from 5.4 million in 2024, indicating an increase year-on-year.
