Maharashtra’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) carries out raids and inspections across multiple cities, including Mumbai and Jalgaon, seizing large quantities of food products and banned items. In Jalgaon district, the FDA conducts raids at 96 locations between April and September, seizing about 3.82 lakh kg of food products, and it also runs targeted operations against banned tobacco-related products such as gutka.

In Mumbai, the FDA’s special inspection drive also includes enforcement against specific establishments. One report says licences are suspended for hygiene-related violations, including issues such as unclean kitchens and drainage systems, rusted equipment, and missing worker medical certificates. Other outlets also report seizures across the state valued at around ₹3.11 crore, including quantities of edible oil and other food stocks.

Across the coverage, outlets focus on different parts of the same overall crackdown: some emphasise the scale of district-level seizures and destruction of substandard items, while others highlight city-level actions like licence suspensions and the detention of suspected adulterated or banned goods. One outlet further underscores the state-wide total, while another foregrounds the Mumbai cases involving specific food businesses and categories of seized products.
