Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) inaugurates the Unilever Fragrance Hub in Mumbai, described as the third global fragrance hub under an overall €100 million programme to build in-house, digitally supported fragrance creation capabilities. HUL sets up the facility at the IIT Bombay campus and says it combines consumer insights, advanced science and AI to speed up fragrance innovation across product categories. The company states the hub aims to improve product experience and support premiumisation, while bringing fragrance design, development and evaluation closer to one of Unilever’s fastest-growing consumer markets.

HUL also says the centre functions as a fully integrated fragrance creation, application and evaluation facility, using proprietary creation software, real-time evaluation data capture and advanced compounding technologies. The company adds that it expects the hub to use India-specific consumer and market data to develop fragrances that can scale globally. HUL further highlights opportunities for collaboration with academia, particularly in areas such as science and technology and digital-first fragrance innovation. The Business Standard and The Hindu also report the hub as AI-powered and focused on accelerating product innovation.
