“Toy Story 5” staff keep Taylor Swift’s original contribution under wraps, multiple reports say. Jordan also states he has been keeping the song secret since February, and that a decoy was created so the full team did not have to handle the real material tied to Swift’s track. Rolling Stone reports Jordan says the wider crew did not learn about the secret until last week. Variety adds that the song, titled “I Knew It, I Knew You,” is part of Swift’s return to her country roots, and that it gets released close to the premiere timeline.
Variety also quotes Tom Hanks, who says even the film’s cast did not know about Swift’s recording until hours before the song was released. Hanks describes the secrecy as “top secret,” noting the cast was informed only when the release moment arrived. NME similarly reports Disney created a decoy version to keep Swift’s involvement confidential.
