Apple announces new Apple Intelligence capabilities for Safari, expanding the browser’s automation, customization, and privacy-focused tools. The main feature is automatic tab organization, where Apple Intelligence groups open tabs into relevant topics without manual setup, and continues to place new tabs into existing groups or create new ones as browsing changes.
Apple also introduces a way for users to generate custom Safari extensions using natural language. Users “describe an extension” in plain English, and Safari produces an extension that can adapt how webpages behave. Apple provides examples such as adding a toolbar option to save and rate recipes from cooking sites.
In addition, Safari adds a “Notify Me” capability that lets users request that the browser monitor a specific webpage and send an alert when changes match the user’s criteria, such as product restocks or price drops.
Finally, Apple brings an AI-powered password update workflow to Safari. Working with the Passwords app, Apple Intelligence can automatically navigate to eligible sites, sign in, and update weak or compromised passwords to stronger ones with a single tap.
Apple says these features are designed with privacy in mind and do not expose personal browsing data to Apple or others.
