OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is set to visit South Korea next week for talks with major technology companies focused on artificial intelligence cooperation, industry sources say. The two-day visit begins Sunday and includes meetings with Samsung Electronics executives, as well as meetings with Naver and Kakao, according to the reports. Altman is scheduled to go to Samsung’s office in Suwon, south of Seoul, on Monday, where he will deliver a lecture on the transformative impact of AI technologies and strategies for AI-driven workplace innovation. The trip follows Samsung’s recent announcement that it plans to overhaul its work processes and corporate culture by incorporating AI across its operations. The upcoming visit is reported as Altman’s first to Korea in about eight months, after a previous trip in October last year. During that earlier visit, Altman met separately with Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong and SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won. After those meetings, OpenAI reportedly signed letters of intent with Samsung and SK to cooperate on development of core global AI infrastructure.
