Apple previews several new features for Apple Maps arriving with iOS 27, announced during WWDC 2026. The most prominent update is an improved Flyover experience that combines existing aerial imagery with AI models. Apple says the enhanced Flyover will produce sharper, more lifelike 3D visuals for select cities, with clearer details such as individual trees and reflections on building surfaces. Apple also introduces a Local Lists feature in the United States. The feature shows curated collections of nearby places based on what is trending locally, including options such as restaurants and family-friendly destinations. Apple states the insights are privacy-preserving and are not tied to individual users. Additional changes include expanded Suggested Places, allowing users to swipe through more recommendations, and a Trending Restaurants section in search results. Apple also extends natural-language search to include routing specifics. The Smart Stack will gain a Parked Car widget, and Offline Maps is reported to receive improvements (details not specified). Apple also expands the availability of Visited Places and Guides to more countries, and updates the Maps app icon with a new “Liquid Glass” style design.
