Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath flags off three hydrogen buses and 45 electric buses for services connected to the Jewar Airport area, operating through the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) and the Noida and Greater Noida regions. The launch takes place in the YEIDA area on June 12, with the event conducted via video conferencing from Lucknow, and the Noida Electric Bus Depot is also inaugurated.

The hydrogen buses are developed under the Green Hydrogen-Based Mobility Project by NTPC Dadri. The fuel cell buses are described as emitting only water during operation. The project also uses treated water from a sewage treatment plant to produce hydrogen, and it is projected to generate 2,080 kilograms of oxygen per day. Additional claims across reports include reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 1,000 tonnes per year. Each hydrogen bus is stated to carry up to 56 kilograms of hydrogen for an estimated 750-kilometre range.

The state also outlines broader plans to expand electric bus services, with 110 electric buses set to begin operations by June 15 and potential scaling up to 500 buses based on demand, as part of efforts tied to net-zero and clean mobility goals.
