A 17-year-old girl is stabbed in the neck in Brierfield, Lancashire, and a 30-year-old man is arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, Lancashire Police says. Officers are called to Wood Street in Brierfield at 3.06pm on Friday after reports of a stabbing. Police attend the scene, and some officers are armed. The girl is taken to hospital for treatment to a stab wound described by police as to the back of her neck. Sources report that her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing. Shortly afterwards, officers arrest a 30-year-old man at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder. The man remains in custody. Lancashire Police says the incident will cause concern in the local community and that extra patrols will be in the area that evening to provide reassurance.
