Senator Adams Oshiomhole says President Bola Tinubu relocated during Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to avoid what he described as humiliation linked to some of Buhari’s policies and appointments. Speaking on The Mic On Podcast, Oshiomhole, an Edo North lawmaker, says Tinubu—then a national leader of the All Progressives Congress—was uncomfortable with certain policy directions and choices of personnel in the previous government. He adds that Tinubu was “shut out” by the immediate past administration and that the move was intended to give Tinubu a freer position away from the decisions taking place under Buhari. The outlets also report that Tinubu spent a significant amount of time in France during Buhari’s time in office. In the account, Oshiomhole references Buhari’s remarks that Tinubu “belong[s] to everybody and … belong[s] to nobody,” using it as part of his explanation for the alleged discomfort and subsequent relocation.
