Actor-singer Lee Jun-young is set to begin South Korea’s mandatory military service in July, according to his agency and messages posted by the performer on social media. Sources say Lee will enlist in the Army on July 21 and that there will be no special events marking the transition. In a handwritten letter uploaded to his accounts, Lee says he has been thinking about the date since it was set and tells fans to stay healthy, while also promising to return. Lee, 29, rose to prominence through acting and music. He debuted as a member of the K-pop group U-KISS in 2014 and began acting in 2017, appearing in series including Netflix’s “When Life Gives You Tangerines,” as well as “D.P.” and “Weak Hero Class 2.” He also released his first solo album, “Last Dance,” last year. At the time of the announcement, he is appearing in ongoing television projects, including the JTBC comedy series “Reborn Rookie” and the weekend drama “The New Employee, Chairman Kang.”
