Edo North Senator Adams Oshiomhole says his removal as national chairman of Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) happened through a Zoom meeting held at the Aso Rock Villa. In an interview on AIT, Oshiomhole said he was sacked after an alleged failure to remove him through party processes. He stated that when people could not remove him democratically, they claimed that eight members of his ward signed a petition and passed a vote of no confidence against him. According to him, the petition was taken to court, which granted an interim order. He said he appealed the interim order and that the Court of Appeal later quashed it, but subsequently the court called the parties back and restated the order. Oshiomhole also referenced his role in helping President Muhammadu Buhari win the 2015 presidential election, saying he led party efforts that contributed to the outcome. He added that he later saw, for the first time, an APC National Executive Council (NEC) meeting conducted via Zoom in the villa. The reports focus on his account of the circumstances and timing of his removal.
