A petrol bomb attack attempt against an RSS office in Ranchi is being investigated by police after CCTV footage showed two men throwing suspected incendiary bottles around midnight. Reports say the incident occurred in the Chutia area/Nivaranpur locality within the limits of the Chutia police station, with the CCTV visuals showing two suspects fleeing after the bottles were hurled at about 12:36–12:38 a.m. Police said the improvised devices were made by filling bottles with petrol, and that both bottles fell short of reaching the main building—one reportedly landed outside the boundary wall and the other broke apart before entering the inner campus. No damage to the RSS office was reported.
Following the incident, senior police officers reached the site, the area was cordoned off, and forensic teams including the FSL and technical cells were deployed to examine recovered bottles and evidence. Police said security has been tightened, and they are examining whether the attack was premeditated.
BJP leaders including Babulal Marandi and other MLAs visited the site and condemned the attack, with some alleging a broader conspiracy to incite unrest. Separately, Times of India reported that three people were arrested and that investigators are examining possible terror links, with the Anti-Terrorist Squad leading parts of the probe.
