Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi says he will halt his 2027 presidential campaign if anyone can provide proof that he personally received even 1% of Labour Party donations from the 2023 election period. Obi made the statement on Tuesday during an interview on Nevon Media hosted by Oseni Rufai. He was responding to allegations that he and human rights activist Aisha Yesufu siphoned funds from Labour Party accounts connected to the 2023 general elections.

Obi rejects claims that he or his associates withdrew ₦10 billion (about $30 million) from Labour Party accounts, saying that the accusers have not identified the relevant account. He also says he does not rely on what he describes as “nonsensical” claims and that he intends to publish a list of accusers and challenge them to show concrete evidence of any financial mismanagement or personal gain by him. The statement frames his position as a demand for verifiable documentation rather than unsubstantiated allegations.
